Book Bale Bundle--What a Great Deal!

  

I stumbled upon the bookbale bundle when I was looking up Mercedes Lackey's website to include in a review of one of her books.  I checked it out and was duly impressed.

Select any price (minimum $2.99) for all six books listed as the regular bundle. Pay at least $10.00 and get TWO BONUS BOOKS by two acknowledged literary masters in addition to the regular bundle.  In the November Bundle in addition to Elvenbane, you would have gotten The Jesus Incident by Frank Herbert and Bill Ransom, Climbing Olympus by Kevin J. Android for Infants

From the Los Angeles Times:

The Vinci, which will be available later this month, is a 7-inch touch pad that lies suspended in a protective soft-cornered case that is easy for tiny hands to grip and will protect the tablet from some serious baby banging around. Like the LeapPad, it does not have Wi-Fi functionality, so parents don't have to worry about what their 2-year-old might download.

As the company's website says: "The Vinci is not an imitation -- it is a real touch-screen Android-based product, bringing the most advanced technology to the benefit of our youngest citizens."

Maybe that explains the hefty price tag: It's selling for $389.

I love technology but I wonder about this.

Board books and cloth books are huggable and kids sleep with them.  I’m not sure I would want my baby sleeping with a tablet.

I’m certainly not a Luddite but I haven’t seen this even in my scifi books. 

Take note though, for those of us who write kids’ books, we better get them converted to digital format.

Every Which Way But Dead by Kim Harrison

This is the first book of Harrison’s that I have read. I expected a Jim Butcher level of entertainment. I didn’t get it. I gave it a good effort but I just couldn’t get into the story, the characters, the setting, nothing. I wanted to like the book, I have already got a couple more of her books, assuming I would like it but alas, I didn’t. The book had too much soap opera overtone for my taste. Now I am not foolish enough to suggest that it may be more suited in the romance category of vampire loving teens but maybe… Rachel Mariana Morgan is a witch, rooming with a living vampire and a bunch of pixies and she is the familiar of a demon. Sounds like it should be page turner and obviously from Harrison’s sales for many people her books are page turners, just not for me. I do not recommend it.

Work in Progress

I truly wonder how I ever had time to work. This is a work in progress so bear with me as I finalize the structure. The only concrete thing so far is that I will be posting only SciFi and Fantasy here all with lots of encouragement regarding literacy & reading for fun.

This is the Azure Dwarf representative of both fantasy and scifi.   Clad in chain mail, obviously horny, weaponized to the max the Azure Dwarf bridges that gap between Science Fiction and Fantasy.   A star in his own right he will battle the forces of illiteracy and bring to your attention astounding fiction!
